Women and children health

According to the World Health Organization, more than 60 percent of women give birth at home unattended by a trained healthcare professional because they have no access to affordable obstetrical care services. Such practice partly explains the high rate of maternal and infant mortality. 600 out of every 100,000 pregnant women die giving birth. Some of these women die because of problems such as obstructed labor and eclampsia. One in every eight infant dies before the age of five and because there is currently no Intensive Neo-natal department in any hospital in the country, many of these babies end-up dying at home. Due to the capacity of this problem, The Rescue Haiti Foundation will design an extraordinary facility to serve the unique healthcare needs of women and babies in a caring, family-centered environment. Special attention will be placed on creating a soothing, healing environment with warm d├ęcor and natural ambiance. The hospital will provide complete women's care from obstetrics and high-risk births to gynecological services. We will be home to the first and largest Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the country.
